Creating a question

Workspace admins are able to see and click the New Question button at the top of the Question page.

Title & Subtitle

The title is displayed in many locations, including inside charts and is best kept short. Add required context that would make the title too wordy into the sub-title.

Description

Extra details and links to background material. This is rich text, so you can add links and images.

Create (as is)

This will create the question with just the title, sub-title and description (i.e. no configuration) in draft status

Title Suggestions

As you change the title of the question, the app will suggest changes/additions to the title, sub-title and description. Click Update with these suggestions to update your description.

• If you just want parts of this you can copy paste
• Click the refresh icon at the otp right of this section to get a new suggestion (quality can vary)

Configuration Suggestions

AS you change the title of the question, the app will suggest configuration for it.

• If you change these properties, it will take this into account
• Click create to make the question (status will default to review)

Question Forecast Type

• Likelihood - % chance of something happening
• Amount - expected probability distribution for a value
  • Bounds. Default set by the question creator, but can be set in each individual forecast.

❕Once a forecast has been made, you won’t be able to change the question type

Display Range

The display range is the default zoom for new forecast and the display of the results

Hard cut-off

Hard cut-off should be set when values outside the range are not-allowed (e.g. less than 0 deaths). It is important to set hard cut-off before forecasts are made.

• if you make changes with existing forecasts you will need to confirm you want to do this and consider expiring the relevant forecasts

Status

If you create a question and Once you are happy with the question, change it from Draft it to on of the following to make it visible to forecasters and get started on the next step:

• review if you want feedback before forecasting
• question generation if you want conditionals to be suggested by forecasters
